Six Months at Habitat Works: Catching Up with Jen

It’s hard to believe that Jen has already been part of the Habitat Works team for six months! As our Finance and Office Administrator, she’s become an integral part of keeping the business running smoothly behind the scenes, supporting the team with everything from finance and administration to the day-to-day organisation that keeps us on track.

We caught up with Jen to find out how she’s found her first six months, the highlights so far, and what she’s looking forward to next.

What is your favourite thing about working at Habitat Works?

“The people and pooches! The teams, both furry and non-furry, are all ace! 😃”

Anyone who knows Habitat Works will know that we’re a dog-friendly workplace, so it’s no surprise that our four-legged colleagues have made quite an impression alongside the fantastic team.

What have been your highlights over the last six months?

“The team away day has been 100% one of my highlights!”

Bringing the team together outside of the office is something we really value, and it’s great to hear that our recent away day made such a positive impression. It’s always a fantastic opportunity to catch up, have some fun and strengthen the relationships that make Habitat Works such a great place to work.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?

“Collating receipts for processing (I wouldn’t like to mention names!). Having come from a background in retail, the change to ecology has definitely been a challenge; however, I’ve loved learning on the job!”

Moving into a completely new sector is no small step, but Jen has embraced the challenge and quickly become a valued member of the team. (As for those receipts… we’ll let the guilty parties identify themselves!)

What are you looking forward to over the next six months to a year?

“Further learning about the work that we do as a company, gaining more knowledge about the environment and the impact we have on it as a company.”

Jen is keen to continue developing her understanding of the ecological and environmental sectors. As the business continues to grow, we’re excited to support her learning and see her role develop even further.

Looking Ahead

We’re so pleased Jen chose to join Habitat Works and it’s been fantastic to see her settle into the team over the last six months. Her positivity, sense of humour and willingness to get stuck in have made her a valued member of the business, and we can’t wait to see what the next six months (and beyond!) bring.

Here’s to many more team days, plenty more learning and—hopefully—a few more receipts finding their way back to the office!
